Sara Henrichs, the founder of reflective fashion collection Henrichs, spoke to online magazine ‘It’s Rude to Stare’ about her inspirations.
Who do you design for? Are you inspired by a certain personality / look when coming up with ideas?
I design for style-conscious urban citizens who want to look good while travelling by bicycle or scooter but don’t want to wear the ugly yellow hi-vis vests. The idea is to be able to do this through a Henrichs garments, they can wear this over what they would normally wear, so it’s practical, safer and still looks good. The cape for instance is my flagship product and the reason why I launched Henrichs.
When I was a fashion student in Paris I was fascinated by the Schoeller reflective material and designed the cape for myself to cycle with. Since then I had so many people asking me where I got it from so I decided to produce it and the rest is history!
Are you a keen cyclist?
Yes, I always cycle it’s the best transport way in cities nowadays!
Describe your personal style?
I am a chic french girl with a practical german touch.
