N.J.S. Cashmere Wool Beanie byOtto and Spike
This long colourful striped beanie is inspired by Japanese Kerin riders (Kerin translates as ‘racing wheels’), whose brightly coloured jerseys make them look like jockeys. It’s named after Nihon Jitensha Shinkokai – the Japanese Kerin Association.
In Japan the Kerin is a year round series of cycling races on a velodrome or track, where betting is strictly managed. It was reintroduced as part of post-war reconstruction, when maintaining horses would have been too expensive. Kerin became an Olympic sport at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
The N.J.S. Beanie is knitted with a blend of fine wool, cashmere, cotton, modal and nylon.
