Sydney Cycle Chic have recently had a style facelift, with much larger photos taken using Instagram. We love their new look and particularly this photo, showing a kind of burst of bike colour we enjoy seeing around our streets.

Emerald City Spin is a short video featuring, you guessed it, Sydney bike riders which has shown in New York to London and Sydney Bike Film Festival.
A bunch of hot and cheeky ladies wake up, get dressed and bike through the streets of the Emerald City to the beach. “Summer daze, bikes and babes, riding round, wearing shades. Feel the breeze, catch a wave, looking hot, like grenades”.

We’ve blogged about the wonderful hand-made bikes from Bowery Lane Bicycles before…and now we’re excited that a limited number are now available in Australia.
The bikes are hand-welded, painted, assembled, packed and shipped in New York City. The vintage style bikes are made by a family owned and operated company that has been making bikes since the 1800s and they feature sustainable cork handles, a Dutch leather saddle and a locally handcrafted wood crate.

The bikes can be bought online and are available for test rides in Bondi, Sydney. They will be coming to Melbourne and Brisbane soon!

Sydney designer Jeni Oye makes jewellery under the label Oye Modern and the range includes handmade one-of-a-kind cuffs made from recycled bike tyres.
Consider the cuffs as a badge of honour for the miles you’ve ridden.
We visit Sydney several times a year and we’ve had great fun discovering the city’s ever-expanding network of cycleways with a rental from Humble Vintage.
Now City of Sydney has a free pocket-sized booklet featuring eight adventures for you and your bike in inner-Sydney.
You can order a hard copy of the booklet by calling 9265 9333 or just download the ride you want.
The Sydney Rides Festival launches with a bang this Saturday with the Street Fair of Cycling Goodness!
Join the party from 10-4pm at Taylor Square, Darlinghurst (on the Bourke Street cycleway cnr of Bourke Street and Oxford Street Darlinghurst).
There will be food, coffee, music, games and workshops. There’s also free bike mechanics and free valet bike parking thanks to the City of Sydney. Some of our goodies will be available for sale at the market stall run by Bicycle Film Festival Sydney, so make sure you drop in to this fabulous event.
Food and cycling are probably our two favourite things, which is why we’re so excited to hear about ‘The Moving Feast’, a celebration of food and cycling in Sydney.
The new event is taking place on Saturday 24 September at 9am which is 350.org‘s Moving Planet day – so it’s also a day to promote moving away from fossil fuels (and taking our food and transport systems with us!)
Two groups will cycle along two separate routes (East Side and West Side rides) visiting Sydney’s farmer’s markets and food hot spots on the way. The rides will end with a party in Prince Alfred Park at midday so that you can enjoy your food with your new friends!
Check out the Moving Feast page for full details (including route and maps) and follow their Facebook and Twitter pages.

The Bicycle NSW Spring Cycle is Sydney’s largest celebration of bike riding. This year’s event held on Sunday 16 October is part of the new Sydney Rides Festival from 8-16 October.
For the hard-core cyclists there is the traditional 55km Classic Ride but this year there is also a shorter 16km City Ride, a more leisurely amble which will feature many of the highlights of the longer ride (including riding over the Sydney Harbour Bridge).
You can register for the ride here. $5 of each entry fee goes to charity and this year the Spring Cycle is proudly supporting 3 charities:
To make the event a really fun day out, Bicycle NSW are running several competitions including a best-dressed competition. You could opt for a super-stylish Parisien look, deck yourself out in head-to-toe tweed, dress as your favourite super hero or go as way out as you can.
The winner receives a $250 voucher to spend with us! So what are you waiting for?
Look at all the fun places you can go on your bike in Sydney!
The City of Sydney has produced a series called of videos ‘Everything’s Connected’.
Similar to the videos produced by Transport for London, these short vignettes tell stories from real-life Sydney bike riders. They express the joy and freedom of riding a bike around the city and watching them made us feel happy!
You can view and share them all from YouTube. Enjoy!
Last weekend was the start of Sydney Design 2011, an annual design event produced by the Powerhouse Museum including exhibitions, workshops, talks, seminars, installations and tours.
One of the new events this year is CultureCycle, a guided bike tour run in conjunction with ArtCycle on this Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August.
The CultureCycle guided tour offers a way of viewing the city, experiencing cultural attractions and actively participating in Sydney’s design culture. Cycling, museums and crochet do have something in common! The day includes stops at the Australian Museum, Remy and Lees, CarriageWorks, Powerhouse Museum‘s Love Lace exhibition and a crochet workshop!

The Third Annual Sydney Tweed Ride departs Sydney Town Hall at 9am this Sunday 31 July.
We’re assured that it’s an awfully fun affair – not pompous, just jolly!
If you have nothing to wear – never fear! A pop-up Tweed Outfitter will be stationed at MC Cyclery’s city store (230 Clarence St, Sydney) to doll you out in style.
The ride concludes with a picnic, Tweed games and a delightful fashion event.
