Monday, January 7th, 2013Brooklyn Bike Patrol
Wednesday, August 15th, 2012If you’ve ever felt a little unsafe walking home by yourself late at night, we’ve discovered a great scheme in New York City that could easily be replicated anywhere in the world.
Jay Ruiz and his team of volunteers escorts late-night travellers home from the subway safely with the Brooklyn Bike Patrol. It’s a free borough-wide service with 13 volunteers on call seven days a week – they receive a call, jump on their bikes to meet the caller at a subway station, walk the person safely home and wait for the next call.
What a heartwarming good news bike story.

Duffle Coat
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012We have a thing for duffle coats. Must be our fond memories of wearing a chic navy duffle coat to school in winter.
So duffle coats and bikes make up stop for a second look. Especially a bright red coat paired with patterned tights and a megawatt smile. Almost puts her beautiful green bike in the shade.

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012We’ve blogged about the wonderful hand-made bikes from Bowery Lane Bicycles before…and now we’re excited that a limited number are now available in Australia.
The bikes are hand-welded, painted, assembled, packed and shipped in New York City. The vintage style bikes are made by a family owned and operated company that has been making bikes since the 1800s and they feature sustainable cork handles, a Dutch leather saddle and a locally handcrafted wood crate.

The bikes can be bought online and are available for test rides in Bondi, Sydney. They will be coming to Melbourne and Brisbane soon!
NYC Helmet
Monday, January 23rd, 2012The NYC helmet was commission by the City of New York from San Francisco-based Yves Behar / fuseproject.
The helmet has two components – a protective polystyrene inner shell and a separate soft fabric outer cover with straps and velcro flaps for keeping the wind/snow/sun off your neck. Commando style riding!
