We are always on the hunt for stylish cyclists but often miss the opportunity to take their photo as they zoom past while we fumble around getting our camera out.
We may have found the solution now – the Electra Camera Mount from Electra Bicycle Company. Basically, it attaches to your handlebars and allows you to take photos and shoot video while cycling. Here’s a Facebook video testing out the mount on a rugged mountain trail.
It fits any standard handlebar and costs only US$39.95. We’re putting one in our virtual shopping cart now.

There’s actually a good market for onbike video in the city, you could bring in some good side biz (and move some style stock via impulse buying) if you could source low cost vid gear ranging from these sort of mounts (which I’m sure could be had cheaper than AU$40RRP, let alone US$40) up to a helmet cam or even cheap SD cam (I’ve seen suitable products for as little as $99)
The reason I suggest this is there’s a growing movement for cyclists to record their commute as potential evidence in road rage cases or just to simply “life log” (AKA “flog”) their rides. The latter is quite popular with younger, more style conscious riders and could well be a good sideline.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the tip – we will have to track down some riders to ‘flog’ their rides, never seen it before!
