Laneway Learning is a great project in Melbourne with the aim of providing cheap, informal one-night evening classes on all sorts of fun topics, from knitting to making chutney to Broadway musicals.

We are excited that one of their upcoming classes is ‘Money-Saving Bicycle Maintenance‘ where you can learn some basic bike repairs and maintenance skills that will help you out in times of need and save you money. The workshop will start with fixing a puncture and moving on to brake and gear adjustments. Time permitting you will also learn to identify when something can be fixed or needs replacing. The class is limited to 20 people and is taught by a qualified bike mechanic.

Giveaway! Thanks to Laneway Learning we have 5 x spots for their next Money-Saving Bicycle Maintenance Class on Wednesday 6 March to give away to 5 of our fans and customers. These are literally tickets that money can’t buy as the class is sold out.

To win, all you have to do is leave a comment below telling us why you need to learn some bike maintenance skills. Five winners will be drawn randomly and notified on Monday 4 March by email. Good luck!

Rediscovering cycling started as a bit of fun, but has turned into an addiction of sorts. I want to be able to do the ongoing maintenance or tweaks myself – as its frustrating having to pay someone else for the seemingly simple things.

  2. Maria says:

Recently I arrived at meeting with a bleeding ankle and black hands. My bike chain came off while I was riding and I had to reattach it on the footpath. After 6 years of commuter riding I still don’t know how to remove/attach my bike chain or fix any potential issues. I wish I could look after my bike Konan better, he gives me so much love and I’d like to give him more love in return.

  3. Harriet says:

    My bike needs some TLC.

  4. Candy says:

I have been asking people to help me to do a quick maintenance for me every now and then but I think it is time to put a full stop to it. Knowing my bike well will allow me to look after it well and be able to perform better on the road.

Thank you for the opportunity CycleStyle! Would love to attend this class!

My $11 rusty, banged up 1980s ladies bike needs a makeover. Would be delightful to see her running as good as new again or at least a little less squeaky/rattly/about-to-fall-aparty. Yeah! :D

  6. Christy says:

    Hello

I ride everyday and ‘live’ on my bike hence I would love to know the basic bits and bobs of repairs and bike maintenance. The knowledge gained would be a ‘neccesity’ for me.

    thank you :)

  7. Alex says:

I’d rather ride my bike from surry hills to Chatswood than take the train, but my wheel keeps falling off arounf north sydney, and I can’t figure why!

  8. Vanessa says:

Riding has become a pleasure on my daily routine.. I use it for transportation purposes and also for enjoyment activities. It would be great to know more about repairing and any other helpful tips.
